Reintroduce yourself to YOU as we dive deep together, practicing self-love & mindfulness, from reflecting on growth in your personal life to exploring your creative side or bringing ideas to life. I encourage all of it! I absolutely thrive connecting with equally passionate people.
Your presence here is a celebration of human connection. Mahalo for being you and ありがとう for being a part of this inspiring community.
Hawai‘i girl, Japanese heart.
I’m Keri, a full Japanese artist born & raised in Kailua. My core values stem from gratitude, passion & love.
While I may be an entrepreneur, I am first and foremost a creative soul, which at times is challenging to navigate as I “grow my business”. The whole reason I started down this path of creativity was to have a platform where I could share my art in hopes to inspire others.
Making art has always been a big part of my life from doodling on my binders & notes in class, enjoying trips to museums, and playing around in photoshop to customize my myspace. Unsure about where my love for art would take me, I attended Chapman University in Southern California where I majored in Graphic Design with a minor in Communication Studies. Happy to run away from home, I spent 6 years in Orange County thinking that’s where I wanted to live long term and where I had to be in order to be successful. During my time there I traveled to London for a summer design program, did an internship with Volcom, went on several roadtrips, and for 1 year I worked for a small Social Media Consulting firm as my first job after graduation.
After quitting my job, I attempted to freelance for about a year out there while slowly beginning my personal journey of diving deep as I explored different parts of me to understand what truly made me happy. Feeling a little lost and confused, I wiped my tears and packed up my things for what I’d initially intended to be a temporary move back home.
With no real work yet, I was a free bird with all the time on my hands to bask in the comfort of my childhood home. Maybe it was the constant sunrise sessions, maybe it was all the epic hikes, maybe it was my solo trips to Hilo to visit my Grandma, or maybe it was all of it… but I started to see home in a whole new light, uncovering bits of happiness everywhere I looked. Nature inspired me to create again.
Timid yet confident in my purpose, I stepped back into my work as an artist. I began integrating into the community here as I networked with new people and reconnected with old friends & classmates. My roots were slowly growing, and after only a few months back, I knew I was home to stay.
Over the years, I’ve had the honor of working with countless amazing brands & non-profits both locally and on the mainland. My work has even spanned all the way to businesses in Japan, which feels incredibly full circle as a Japanese American. I am beyond grateful for this opportunity to give back to my communities through my art. Not only have I expanded my clientele, I’m also continually diving deeper along my personal journey to keep creating for myself as I chase my true happiness.
Mindfulness is a huge part of my daily practice, which helps me to stay grounded through all the twists & turns of life. I enjoy wrapping it into my art as well as touching on it while working with clients. My platforms and goals may impermanent, changing with me as I grow, yet my mission has always remained the same— inspire happiness.
Motherhood has been my most recent big change. It is so deeply challenging and rewarding, it is unlike anything I’ve ever experienced. The duality in this chapter of life has only reassured me in my direction and has encouraged me to continue confidently down this path I’m paving for myself, and now for my little girl. I may not know exactly where I’m headed, but I’ll be having fun along the way.
